Fife Pupil Support Service

Vision and Values

A key improvement for our service in 2023-24 is the strategic initiative, Leadership of Change. As part of this initiative, we aim to comprehensively evaluate and understand stakeholder perceptions of Pupil Support Service and use this to shape our Vision and Values moving forward.

To do this, we started a small working party combining staff from across our 11 satellite centres. Initially, we looked at examples from feeder schools across Fife and the journey they had taken for resetting and embedding their visions and values. Following this, we identified key focus groups for a comprehensive survey to gauge perceptions of our service and gather insights for future improvements. Short surveys were distributed to our staff, parents of pupils utilising our services, our partner agencies, and the pupils themselves.

The feedback we received was instrumental in revealing how the Pupil Support Service (PSS) is perceived by our stakeholders. Key themes and statements emerged consistently. Stakeholders emphasised the importance of equipping pupils with the tools to overcome current challenges within education. This prompted discussions on defining success and our role in facilitating it for all pupils. Success was identified as pupils feeling safe, building resilience to life's challenges, and progressing with mutual respect.

This led us to our Vision, which is simple and clear:

“READY TO SUCCEED”

Our Values that underpin how we do this are:

· SAFE

· RESILIENT

· RESPECTFUL
